From Lab to FAB
The FBE building was previously an External Laboratory for the Faculty of Resource Sciences and Technology (FRST) from 2008 until 2018, before it was renovated into FBE building in 2019.
Today, some residues of unique characteristics belonging to its former glory as a laboratory are still intact, making the FBE building unique and is one of its kind.
The Building
The building design itself plays around with form, allowing a more porous floor plan design with the four courtyards that act as the "void" or "air well" for the solid-looking building. It is a low rise building that allows free-flow movement between each block and courtyards.
