The Faculty of Built Environment (FBE) is the tenth Faculty of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak. Established on 22 September 2018, the Faculty aspires to be an internationally recognised leader in education, nurturing professional excellence in Built Environment practice, culture and heritage. The FBE is designed to bring together the multidisciplinary professions of the built environment, drawing upon technical, social and economic expertise to reimagine how humanity inhabits the earth. Its mission is to shape environments that are both sustainable and pleasing to dwell in.

Community-Driven University for a Sustainable World

FBE Year 1 Architecture Students Built Timber Installations for Bidayuh Salako Community in Sematan

There is a long-standing tradition in the Architecture School of UNIMAS where, during the first semester of First Year, students are required to build a 1:1 scale structure that can fit a single person. This tradition is a legacy of our founding Dean, Professor Nurakmal Abdullah Goh, with the first cohort constructing a bamboo sculpture along the entrance road to UNIMAS’s main gate and near the lake by the Student Pavilion in December 2017.

AQSA 2024: A Global Stage for Construction and Culture in Cat City & UNIMAS

The ASEAN Quantity Surveyor Association (AQSA), established in December 2020, proudly hosted its annual AQSA International Conference and ASEAN University Students Jamboree 2024 on 19–20 November 2024 in Kuching, Sarawak.

FBE x FELC Sweep Awards at the Green City Challenge, HE ELCa 2024, UMPSA Pahang

For years, the Faculty of Education, Language, and Communication (FELC) took on the Higher Education English Learning Carnival (HE ELCa) alone—but 2024 was different. FELC teamed up with the Faculty of Built Environment (FBE) for the Green City Challenge at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), Gambang, from November 7–10.
